Died due to a fatal gunshot wound obtained when another member's gun accidentally discharged and wounded him fatally. After years this member confessed to Hennie's parents that the Buffel story was just a cover-up. Original cause of death given to family was - Died in Freak Accident, fell off of a stationary Buffel, while busy with township patrols in KwaZikele, Port Elizabeth. He was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

- 1985 31897 — Rifleman Heilia Mikael, 81952004HV, 101 Battalion, aged 19. Died in Military Vehicle Accident, was sleeping and was driven over by a Casper.

- 1985 33300 — Special Constable Tjiposa, South West Africa Police Counter-Insurgency Wing: Ops-K Division (KOEVOET) (South West African Police). Killed in action, Counter-insurgency duty in South West Africa. Member of Koevoet.

- 1986 31212 — Lance Corporal Jan Hendrik Labuschagne, 78421898BT, 71 Field Workshop (South African Technical Services Corps (Corps)), aged 23. Died due to a fatal gunshot wound obtained when another member's gun accidentally discharged and wounded him fatally. After years this member confessed to Hennie's parents that the Buffel story was just a cover-up. Original cause of death given to family was - Died in Freak Accident, fell off of a stationary Buffel, while busy with township patrols in KwaZikele, Port Elizabeth. He was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

- 1986 31395 — Second Lieutenant Izak Johan Lourens, 82392879BG, 911 Battalion, aged 19. Died of Meningitis and Malaria, at Opuwa Hospital.

- 1989 30226 — Lieutenant Christiaan Phillipus Els, 84588185PE, 1 Special Service Battalion, aged 20. Killed in action, at Ongandjera, in contact with the enemy.
