After years this member confessed to Hennie's parents that the Buffel story was just a cover-up. Original cause of death given to family was - Died in Freak Accident, fell off of a stationary Buffel, while busy with township patrols in KwaZikele, Port Elizabeth. He was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
