Captain Wynand Du Toit, born 18 November 1974, age 50 at death. Survived by life partner and two children (youngest 21 at time of death). Served SAPS for 32 years from appointment 13 January 1993. Stationed at SAPS Springs, Gauteng. On 16 February 2025, responding to a business robbery; identified himself as a police officer and suspects opened fire; shot in the upper body; fought back despite wounds; died shortly after hospital admission. Name inscribed on Wall of Remembrance for the 2024/2025 Roll of Honour (SAPS Commemoration magazine).
