Killed in action, Hurricane I P3363, during Battle of Britain, when a Messerschmitt Bf 109 shot down his Hawker Hurricane I (P3363) in combat over Tunbridge Wells at 09:30 hrs. Davis crashed, inverted, with his aircraft burned out in the back garden of Canterbury Cottage at Matfield, Brenchley, near Tunbridge Wells.

Killed in action, Beaufort II AW280, off Greek coast, four motor vessels with eleven destroyers south bound from Taranto were attacked by twelve Beauforts. Intense flak and fighter attacks prevented observation of results. Subsequent reconnaissance showed that one M.V. 10000 tons was sunk also one of 6000 tons beached, all Beauforts attacked by fighters.
