Jack Greeff, "A Greater Share of Honour: The Memoirs of a 'Recce' Officer" (3rd edition, September 2023, ISBN 978-1-920702-37-3), p. 129: "A South African serving with the RLI, Captain du Plooy, also died during this incident. I knew him from my Infantry school days." Greeff is describing the loss in Mozambique at Mapai during Operation Uric, and this record carries that operation, that place and the date 6 September 1979. Confirms the man was a South African known to Greeff from Infantry School, serving with the Rhodesian Light Infantry.
