Died of injuries, sustained in Shooting Incident, at Bloemfontein, shot by SANDF Lt. Sibusiso Madubela. Lieutenant Sibusiso Madubela started shooting at white soldiers early in the day because of a salary problem, which he caused by himself for AWOL. He started at the Officer Commanding's office and worked his way through the unit. Some of the other soldiers started chasing him to try and stop him in his rampage. Eventually two soldiers got hold of guns and ammunition and a "mini war" broke out between them. They finally stopped him in his tracks after killing Sgt Nell when they shot and killed him. He wounded 4 others during the shooting rampage.
