Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post 24 Sep 2026: "76902873SP Rifleman Kanda Miche from 201 Battalion SWATF was killed in a shooting incident at Omega Base. He was 24." NEW ROH record -- no Miche on the roll in any year. No further circumstances given.
- Note for context, not as a claim: Omega Base recurs on this roll as the home of 31/201 Battalion, and two other men died there in 1982 -- Rifleman Dumba Catumbele (29711) on 21 September and Rifleman Francesco (30380) on 2 March, both in the same ammunition-bunker explosion. This man's death a year earlier is a separate shooting incident and is not connected to theirs.
- CONFIRMED 24 Sep 2026 by Mike Sandham, OMISSIONS: 24 SEPTEMBER, quoting the South African War Graves Project (advanced search, 17 Jan 1949 to 17 Feb 2017): "24 Sep 1981: 76902873SP Rifleman Kanda Miche from 201 Battalion, South West African Territory Force Died in Shooting Incident, at 201 Battalion. He was 24." This record was created hours earlier the same day from Graham's Last Post, and SAWGP is an independent source: service number, rank, forename, surname, unit, force, date and age all agree exactly.
- The one difference is the place, and it is a difference of precision, not of fact. Graham gives "Omega Base"; SAWGP gives "at 201 Battalion", meaning at the man's own unit rather than on an operation. Both therefore put the shooting at the battalion's base, and SAWGP's wording supports the Omega Base reading already stored rather than competing with it. CauseDeath is left as Graham's, which is the more specific of the two.
