21 Sep 2026: added from a memorial card circulated on social media (TikTok repost, account "dontpissmeoff"), supplied by John. The card reads: "IN LOVING MEMORY OF Lindy Fourie -- Beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, and Friend. BORN 10/8/1970 DIED 23/8/2026. MEMORIAL SERVICE, DATE: 5 September, TIME: 10:00, PLACE: 5 Special Forces Regiment UCC Church." It carries the South African Special Forces emblem with the motto "WE SEEK AND DESTROY", and her photograph shows her in step-out dress with parachute wings and the Special Forces beret. John gives her rank as Sergeant Major; the card itself states no rank.
- DATES: written 10/8/1970 and 23/8/2026. Read as day/month: the second date settles the convention, since there is no 23rd month. Born 10 August 1970, died 23 August 2026, aged 56 -- thirteen days after her birthday.
- CAUSE OF DEATH NOT KNOWN. John: "No further details available." The card gives none, and nothing here establishes whether she died on service, in service but off duty, or after leaving the Defence Force. Recorded as Unknown rather than guessed at.
- PROVENANCE IS WEAK and should be improved. This is a screenshot of a reposted social media image, not an official notification, a unit announcement or a death notice. The memorial service being held at her regiment's own church on 5 September 2026 is the only indication of a continuing connection to 5 Special Forces Regiment. Treat every field here as provisional until a second source is found.
