Constable Akho Ndzingo, born 5 October 1994, age 29 at death. Devoted father to a young child (three years old at time of death). Served SAPS just over a year from appointment 25 April 2023. Stationed at Khayelitsha SAPS, Western Cape. On 12 June 2024, reported for first night shift on C-Shift as passenger in a state patrol vehicle for crime prevention across Khayelitsha sectors. At approximately 21:30 during stop-and-search in Q-Block, Site B, team encountered a suspicious individual hiding in a yard; as he approached, the suspect opened fire, fatally wounding him on the left side (unprotected by vest). Emergency transport to Khayelitsha Day Hospital; succumbed to injuries. Murder and attempted murder case under investigation. Name for 2024/2025 SAPS Roll of Honour (SAPS Commemoration magazine).
