Captain Mandla Clement Khubisa, born 4 December 1966, age 58 at death. Served SAPS nearly three decades from appointment 9 August 1993. Stationed at Empangeni SAPS, KwaZulu-Natal. On 14 December 2024, on learning of an armed robbery at a local residence, he responded immediately (placing himself on duty); met with gunfire from fleeing suspects; returned fire and fatally wounded one assailant; sustained critical injuries while in his vehicle alongside his wife, who was also seriously wounded; died shortly after being transported to a nearby clinic. Service pistol and stolen items later recovered from the deceased suspect. Case under investigation by DPCI.
