Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post 18 Jan 2026: 76532886BG Rifleman Benjamin Arthur Froneman, 2 SAI Support Company Platoon, Killed in Action in the Cut-line ambush, hit in the chest, age 19. 2 SAI Support Company Platoon ambushed north of the Cut-line, 18 Jan 1980: followed three SWAPO/PLAN tracks into southern Angola; L-shaped ambush by about 100 cadres (AK-47, RPD, RPG-7) in the setting sun. Froneman killed instantly; Maritz critically wounded (shoulder/lung), evacuated by Puma, died a few hours later. Froneman's body recovered at first light.
