Killed in action, in North American F-51 Mustang #337. Lt A.G. Frisby was leading a flight of four Mustangs on an armed reconnaissance just north of Hanpo-ri. The flight had reached a position roughly four miles north-west of Sibyon-ni, when Lt Frisby reported that he had been hit by anti-aircraft fire and was baling out at an altitude of 1000 feet. His aircraft's canopy was seen to fly off and a brown object, probably the pilot, was seen to fall from the crippled aircraft. No parachute was seen though, and it would appear that Lt Frisby's parachute failed to open. His pilotless aircraft, turning to the left, continued to lose height until it struck flat ground near a river and was destroyed. An intensive search by two members of the flight failed to find him, and a search conducted by four aircraft later that day also failed to find any sign of him

Research notes

Locality was wrongly set to "Gauteng" -- corrected 28 Aug 2026 (second pass, this time verified against Cemetery rather than AddInfo text, after the first AddInfo-based pass was found to be unreliable and reverted). This person's own Cemetery is unambiguously outside South Africa; several other people at the same cemetery already correctly show a blank Locality. Cleared rather than guessed at a specific region.

A TRIBUTE "To a father we didn't get to know" We were tiny when you left. Even though we didn't get to know you our love goes out to you. We have no body or grave but others memories of you we have. Respect and honour we give to you for your decision to fight for people you didn't know. We salute you for being prepared to die so that others might be free to live. Hello "daddy" Bill, thank you for your courage. I want you to know that your loving wife, Thelma, never stopped loving you. After you were gone, I was born as a sister to your daughters, Wenda and Dawn, and I thank you for the person you were as they are the most amazing sisters anyone could ask for. I salute you, Lt A.G. Frisby, for the hero you will always be to me!
