Lineage from the Royal Durban Rangers (1854) through several volunteer mounted units, unified as Natal Mounted Rifles 1888. Reactivated for the Boer War as Natal Mounted Infantry. Transferred to the Active Citizen Force 1913; converted from cavalry to armoured reconnaissance 1934. Renamed Queen Nandi Mounted Rifles 2019.

Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post 13 Sep 2026 / Bushwar Books Lest We Forget 13 September (https://www.warbooks.co.za/posts/lest-we-forget-13-september/ 73266223BA Lance Corporal Paul Onre Dossena, Natal Mounted Rifles, Bosvark detonated boosted Yugoslavian TMA-3 mine outside Nkongo, age 19. SN/age/cause already matched. CONTAMINATION CLEAR: Regiment was the junk OrgEntity "Mounted" (5503, a truncated fragment) with Unit wrongly set to "32 (Buffalo) Battalion" (2203) — Graham/Bushwar both give Natal Mounted Rifles, not 32 Bn. Regiment repointed to Natal Mounted Rifles (4272); contaminated Unit cleared.
25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Army" was CLEARED as a duplicate. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word repeating what the Branch column already says. Secondary Unit is for sub-units -- a company, a squadron, a commando -- and this record's branch of service is unchanged at "Army".

Paul was killed when he rolled a Unimog after hitting a land mine in the vicinity of Okongo, Ovamboland. Paul was a volunteer from the U.S.A. He was a good person and was well liked by everyone in the unit.
