Citation

DSO LG 30 May 1941 pg. 3095 - "In May, 1941, Captain Quirk, with complete disregard for his own safety, landed near Acroma and rescued another officer who had been forced to land his fighter through enemy action. After burning this aircraft Captain Quirk flew off with the pilot in his own fighter in the face of fire from the enemy. He displayed great courage and devotion to duty in rescuing his comrade and in preventing the aircraft falling into enemy hands." MID LG Sup 24 September 1941 pg. 5573
