| The Cape Corps was reformed in 1963 as a non-combatant Coloured service corps (successor to earlier Cape Corps/Cape Coloured units back to 1796); designated a Permanent Force unit of the SADF in 1972. In 1975, following an amendment to the Defence Act granting Coloured personnel status equal to white personnel, it converted from a support role to a combat unit with commissioned officers. This is a separate era from its WWI/WWII Regiment-battalion existence (Regiment restored 4 Sep 2026, see above). Source | |||
