Sailed from Alexandria, Egypt on 18th November for patrol in southern Adriatic. Failed to return on 6th December and presumed mined around Strait of Otranto area. Italian aircraft claim to have sunk a submarine in these waters on 26th November; all 55 crew lost (southern Adriatic Sea patrol).
