His aircraft failed to pull out of it's dive during the napalm attack, and crashed into the ground and burst into flames.

40563Aircraftsman Alexander Jonathan Charles Wesson, 6656, Rhodesian Air Force (8 Squadron, Rhodesian Air Force), aged 23. Killed in action, during Op Uric when an RPG7 hit the boss of the rotors of his Augusta Bell 205 "Cheetah" R6098 flown by Flt Lt Richard Paxton at Barragem, Mozambique, on Op Uric. The wreck was completely burnt out and his body was not recovered. It is assumed he was buried at the site.

33052Lance Corporal Ernesto Sophia, 76927961SP, 32 (Buffalo) Battalion, aged 18. Accidentally killed by friendly fire in Southern Angola during Operation Vastrap. During a brief contact the platoon commander had lost his pistol; when some of the troops returned later to look for it, they walked into one of their own stopper groups, which did not recognise them and opened fire.
