6034Ordinary Seaman Frederick Drury, 68315, H.M.S. Sotra (South African Naval Forces). Torpedoed by Uboat U-431 attacked the convoy TA-21 off Bardia and hit HMS Sotra with one torpedo. The vessel exploded and sank with the loss of the crew, six of them Norwegian.

20982Private William Rakoma, N/6813, Native Military Corps, S.A. Forces, aged 39. Died of wounds, in hospital. On 28 January 1944 the United States Air Force bombed a POW train on a bridge near Allerona, Italy. It was carrying Allied servicemen from PG Camp 54, Fara in Sabina, to Germany.

2250Private Jacobus Petrus Botha, 590555V, Witwatersrand Rifles/Regiment de la Rey, S.A. Forces, aged 20. Died of wounds, received while his patrol was ambushed near Serra, Italy on the 28th January. He could not be reached by the patrol and could not walk. The enemy was seen to move him to a nearby house. It was later ascertained that he had died the next day.

10020Private Cecil William Hobson, 590465V, Imperial Light Horse/Kimberley Regiment, S.A.Forces, aged 20. Died of wounds, received at Saligastro, Italy. At 2230 on the 10 January 1945, while with 3 Pl, D Coy, he was standing sentry duty when they were attacked by an enemy patrol. He was wounded, gunshot wounds in the head and back in the ensuing skirmish and subsequently died of wounds on the 29th January.
