Dedications 1
James Henry Bewsher was born on the 14 February 1874 in Dalton, Lancashire, on of three brothers. Tom, his brother served with the 1st Battalion, Scots Guards. He came to South Africa in about 1894, was a keen cyclist, won at least two cycling awards and was killed at the Battle of Wagion Hill on the 6th January 1900. He was not quite twenty-six years old.
