Killed in action, Baltimore V FW542, disrupting German supply lines in northern Italy by both day and sometimes night in this period. Killed on a raid to Ancona, the aircraft crashed into the sea with no survivors after leaving the target probably as a result of flak damage.

Died in Aircraft Accident, flew to Asansol to exchange views and experiences with the American Mustang pilots there and also to provide an opportunity to fly each other's aircraft. Flt Lt Murray got into difficulties rolling near the ground, and crashed. He was killed instantly.

22199Lieutenant Leonard William Sampson, SR/598322V, First City/Cape Town Highlanders, S.A. Forces, aged 27. Died of wounds, near Greve, Tuscany. He was Platoon Commander, No 3 Pl, B Coy and during the advance toward Greve, the platoon came under heavy shellfire and withdrew to a nearby house. At approx 11 am the house received 3 direct hits from hostile shelling, wounding Lt Samson. He later died of his wounds.

While on patrol out of Ongangwa, they set up a Temp Base but during the night, a group of the enemy approached and a fire fight ensued. He was killed by a hand grenade explosion during the contact.
