Lieutenant BINNIE, William Harold, age 26, Force No , Royal Air Force: Born Ladysmith 30/6/1892; a freight clerk with Union Castle Steamship CO. in Durban before enlistment; one of the best shottists in SA with both service & air rifle; served with the Durban Light Infantry in GSWA 1914-1915. He enlisted with the 7th (Territorial) Battalion Royal Scots (the Lothian Regiment); served as an observer with 206th Squadron; killed in action in France. (In a DH9.) Buried/commemorated: St. Omer Souvenir Cemetery, Longuenesse, Pas de Calais, France. (Also, on the Durban Light Infantry; the Maritzburg College & the Durban Cenotaph WWI Memorials.)
