33760Acting Pilot Officer Willem Robert Visser, 4170408, 1 Recce Commando (Royal Air Force), aged 37. Killed in aircraft accident, in Beechcraft Baron. The plane, known as "Dinky Toy" was supplied by UNITA and had been checked out by SAAF personnel at Rundu. It was busy with aerial observations for Battlegroup Foxbat in the Silva Porta area of Angola when it crashed, 6km north of Norton de Matos. The SADF investigation team could not determine the exact cause of the crash.

40080Senior Aircraftsman Robert George Nelson, 6526, 7 Sqdn. (Rhodesian Air Force), aged 21. Killed in action, air ops in Alouette III #R3042. Aircraft was hit by groundfire during Operation Grapple in the Gokwe Area and caught alight. Although the pilot managed to land the chopper, Nelson apparently jumped from the aircraft before it landed and died on impact.
