PRU-Spitfire R7035 failed to return after take off from Wick. When he reached Britain on his return the cloud was so thick he did not know where he was. An aircraft was heard overhead at the airfield he was supposed to land at, and at the time he was expected to arrive. His aircraft was never found, so it was assumed he ran out of fuel somewhere over the sea.

Cpl Rob Cerfe and Privates Elson Makonde and Jacob Nkomo were all killed.

I-165's commander LtCdr Shimizu ordered his crewmen to open fire on the MOLLER's survivors. Thirty-two are killed by machine-gun and pistol fire.

- 1944 20830 — Private Idris Wilmore Putterill, 1412, Natal Mounted Rifles, S.A. Forces, aged 30. Died whilst a POW. It is thought he was captured in the vicinity of Bir Riqait, as the Regiment passed through there on 17 June 1942, the day he was reported missing.

- 1944 21549 — Private Walter Gilbert Robb, 6406986, 4th Bn. (Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment), aged 29. Died on active service.

- 1944 25159 — Lieutenant Alton Rushby Thomson, 103730V, South African Air Force, aged 27. Died on active service.

- 1945 3540 — Warrant Officer Class II Louis Garnaut Cawker, 86563V, Technical Service Corps, S.A. Forces, aged 39. Died of natural causes, at Pretoria.

- 1945 4869 — Private Da La Rey, C/286554V, Cape Corps, S.A. Forces. Died on active service.

- 1945 8814 — Ordinary Seaman Grobler, 617063V, H.M.S.A.S. Smalvlei (South African Naval Forces). Died on active service.

- 1950 29641 — Lieutenant Neville Dudley Burd, P1/37795, 28 Sqdn. (South African Air Force), aged 24. Died in Aircraft Accident, cowling came off in flight and crashed near Baragwanath, in AT-6 Harvard #7046.

- 1950 33017 — Second Lieutenant Ivan Griffith Smith, 79429882BG, 28 Sqdn. (South African Air Force), aged 21. Died in Aircraft Accident, struck an unknown object, in flight, causing the cowling to foul the propeller and crashed at Doornkop, south of Roodepoort, in AT-6 Harvard #7046.

- 1960 33897 — Corporal Norman Charles Wolff, K/727, 1 South African Infantry Battalion (Duke of Edinburgh's Own Rifles), aged 21. Died in Shooting Incident, while attending a compulsory camp at Eersterivier. He was shot in the neck with a rifle blank which ruptured his artery. He died before he could be taken to hospital.

- 1967 36986 — Constable Joseph Ntshole, 152820, Western Cape (South African Police), aged 44. Stabbed to death.

- 1968 39082 — Corporal Erisha Chikudza, R40349, 1st Battalion (Rhodesian African Rifles), aged 30. Killed in action, gunshot wound in a contact at Urungwe, Op Cauldron.

- 1968 40238 — Trooper Eric Noel Francis Ridge, 4268, 1st Battalion (Rhodesian Light Infantry), aged 19. Died of wounds, gunshot wound (sniper), during a contact in the Mana Pools area, Operation Cauldron.

- 1977 39983 — District Security Assistant Josephat Musiyiwa, 648028, Keep Protection (Internal Affairs), aged 18. Killed in action, at Gutu, Op Repulse.

- 1978 39036 — Corporal Robert Hugh Cerfe, 106161, 3 Independent Company (Rhodesian African Rifles), aged 27. Killed in action, operating from the old police camp in Nyamaropa, Op Thrasher, a stick of four encountered a very large group of CTs. In the ensuing engagement, and in spite of Cpl Cerfe's desperate pleas for help over the radio, the stick was overrun and only the MAG gunner, having run out of ammunition, managed to escape, returning to base a couple of days later. Cpl Rob Cerfe and Privates Elson Makonde and Jacob Nkomo were all killed.

- 1983 41012 — Signaller Petrus Andreas Jacobus Bosch, 77450146, 21 South African Infantry Battalion (South African Corps of Signals), aged 22. Died of injuries, injured in a private vehicle accident while on a weekend pass. He died the next day at 1 Mil Hospital.
