Victor and his officer, swam to an island to investigate an arms cache, he made it to the island only to realise his officer was in difficulty and returned to the water to save the officer's life - which he did but, lost his own in the process. His body was never found and, in the plethora of admin and investigations, it is possible that Vic was overlooked for a bravery award.

He was washing in the river and it was presumed he was taken by a crocodile. His body was never found.

- 1971 41298 — Constable Francis John Ziwewe, 17999, Special Branch (British South Africa Police), aged 27. Died in vehicle accident, knocked over by a truck near the Sinoia Caves, on the main road to Kariba.

- 1975 29660 — Able Seaman Hugo Johan Jacobus Bus, 68366228PE, SAS Kimberley, aged 23. Died in Freak Accident, at East London, drowned after boat in which he was traveling during beach landing exercises, capsized near Stoney Point.

- 1978 30120 — Lance Corporal Pierre Johannes Du Bois, 75398263BG, 1 Parachute Battalion, aged 19. Killed in action, in Angola, in a contact with the enemy, Ambush.

- 1978 30531 — Rifleman Johannes Barend Greyling, 74440124BG, 1 Parachute Battalion, aged 20. Died of wounds, mortar-bomb shrapnel while taking the radio off his back; casevac to Grootfontein, died a few hours after admission.

- 1978 39817 — Corporal Victor Carl Meyer, 98858, 1 Independent Company (Rhodesian African Rifles), aged 17. Drowned, in the Zambezi River. Victor and his officer, swam to an island to investigate an arms cache, he made it to the island only to realise his officer was in difficulty and returned to the water to save the officer's life - which he did but, lost his own in the process. His body was never found and, in the plethora of admin and investigations, it is possible that Vic was overlooked for a bravery award.

- 1978 33476 — Rifleman Cornelis Frederik Van Der Nest, 74445370BG, 1 Parachute Battalion, aged 19. Killed in action, contact with the enemy, in Ovamboland.

- 1978 43397 — Warrant Officer Class II Johan Wilhelm Albertus Van Niekerk, 05206677PE, 402 AMU (Aerodrome Maintenance Unit) (South African Air Force), aged 44. Died of heart failure, at his home in Kuilsrivier.

- 1981 29473 — Rifleman Jacob Jacobus Blom, 78352887BG, 6 South African Infantry Battalion (South African Infantry Corps), aged 19. Killed in action, at Sector 10, in contact with the enemy.

- 1981 33601 — Corporal Marthinus Johannes Van Staden, 77301497PF, 6 South African Infantry Battalion (South African Infantry Corps), aged 19. Died of wounds, received from mortar rounds when night TB ambushed, in Southern Angola.

- 1983 29880 — Sergeant Petrus Gerhardus Ettiene Cronje, 75479055PE, Air Force Headquarters (South African Air Force), aged 24. Committed suicide at Pretoria. Gunshot wound.

- 1986 30655 — Pioneer Stefanus Jacobus Havenga, 86720190, 1 Recce Commando (1 Reconnaissance Regiment), aged 62. Died of gunshot wound, shot himself while on guard duty.

- 1986 37983 — Constable Deon Van Der Sandt, W403940P, Upington (South African Police), aged 22. Died of injuries, sustained serious injuries from which he died two hours later after being knocked down by a lorry while returning to his station from patrol. The horse he was riding had to be destroyed.

- 1990 35896 — Special Constable Sibusiso Andreas Matha, S917256H, Gauteng (South African Police), aged 29. Died in a Motor Vehicle Accident.

- 1994 35597 — Constable Ramesh Mahlangu, 0626908-7, Mondeor Police, Gauteng (South African Police), aged 27. Died in a Motor Vehicle Accident.

- 1996 37881 — Constable Deon Johannes Tolken, 0467547-9, Witwatersrand (South African Police), aged 23. Died in the execution of his duty as a member of the South African Police.

- 2007 37886 — Inspector Deon Johannes Toopo, 174062-8, Free State (South African Police Service), aged 31. Died in the execution of his duty as a member of the South African Police.
