Probably entered the RAF as a direct-entry Airman u/t Pilot in 1939. With his training completed, he was commissioned and arrived at 6 OTU, Sutton Bridge on 8th June 1940 to convert to Hurricanes. On Ruzawi Preparatory School War Memorial, near Marandellas, Rhodesia. On war memorial in Marandellas, Rhodesia. Now known as Marondera, Zimbabwe.
