Unveiled on 31 May 1979 just outside the entrance to Fort Klapperkop. A statue of a soldier holding an R1 rifle stands in memory of members of the South African Defence Force who died in service. Names are inscribed on marble plaques around the statue. An asterisk next to a name marks those who died in operations as a result of enemy action. This is a different site from the SADF Wall of Remembrance at the Voortrekker Monument.
