Killed when his civilian Piper Cruiser ZS-BIL collided in mid-air with SAAF Harvard 7354 (Pupil Pilot Peter Donald John Gilchrist) on the downwind leg at Youngsfield Airfield; both aircraft crashed, no survivors.
