Beaumont, Garth George (G G)

Air Rhodesia Viscount "Hunyani" (Flight RH825), Kariba to Salisbury, shot down by ZIPRA insurgents using a Soviet SAM-7 Grail approximately 5 minutes after takeoff from Kariba; crashed in the Urungwe Tribal Trust Land, 40km SE of Kariba Dam. 18 survived the crash itself, but 10 of those were murdered by ZIPRA fighters who returned to loot the wreckage; 8 survivors evaded and escaped.

Awarded the Rhodesian Meritorious Conduct Medal (MCM) posthumously for brave and gallant conduct. Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post 3 Sep 2026. 44 passengers also died in this attack (3 already on the ROH as their own security-force-connected PersonInfoRaw records: Gillespie PN 38475, Young PN 38844, Bull PN 39003; Bull's wife Karen added separately to RelatedDeath).
