Lawrence Kretzmann was a childhood friend of mine and we served together at 11 Commando, Kimberley. He was in a Buffel on the way back to base(Oshakati), when the vehicle struck an animal and overturned. He died a few days later at 1 Mil. Hospital in Pretoria. He was a cheerful "never say die" type of person who didn't deserve to be cut down in his youth. I believe he was 18 at the time of his death. He was an East Londoner.
