13 Oct 2026: New record. Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post, 13 Oct 2026: "88283585BG Rifleman Gideon Johannes Smith from 6 SAI was found dead on the 6 SAI Shooting Range with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head using his R4 rifle. He was 19." Not in DB prior to this pass. Distinct from the other Gideon Johannes Smith named in the same Graham post (Sergeant, Venda Defence Force, died 1994 -- see ServiceNo 1904794 conflict note on PersonNumber 41731).
14 Oct 2026: Mike Sandham OMISSIONS: 13 OCTOBER independently confirms this record exactly: "6 South African Infantry Battalion, South African Infantry Corps...shot himself in the head with his R4 rifle, at the 6 SAI Shooting Range. He was 19." Matches Col (rt) Graham du Toit's 13 Oct 2026 Last Post account precisely.
