"23 May 1979: 76431634PE Rifleman Jan Stephanus Jefthas from the South African Cape Corps Died in Vehicle Accident, hit and run accident, at Groendal, Cape Province. He was off duty. He was 20."
21 Sep 2026: CauseDeath trimmed to the circumstance of death alone. On import it had been set to Mike Sandham's entire entry, repeating the date, service number, rank, name and unit that this record already holds in its own fields. His wording is quoted verbatim in the citation above, so nothing is lost. Defect found when Graham du Toit's Last Post of 21 Sep 2026 independently confirmed one of these records, Sikirila 49773.
