"08 Dec 1978: 73325029BG Lance Corporal Peter John Gaia from 5 South African Infantry Battalion, South African Infantry Corps Died in Private Vehicle Accident, near Ladysmith. He was off duty at the time. He was 21."
21 Sep 2026: CauseDeath trimmed to the circumstance of death alone. On import it had been set to Mike Sandham's entire entry, repeating the date, service number, rank, name and unit that this record already holds in its own fields. His wording is quoted verbatim in the citation above, so nothing is lost. Defect found when Graham du Toit's Last Post of 21 Sep 2026 independently confirmed one of these records, Sikirila 49773.
