In recognition of services during the operations in South Africa (since killed in action)" -- London Gazette, 27 September 1901. Born 4 November 1878; entered the Gordon Highlanders from the Militia. Exact date of death not given by the source, only that it preceded the 27 Sep 1901 gazette notice. This record existed on the original justdone.co.za site (Person Number 9397) but was not present in the current database -- restored here as a migration gap, not a new addition to scope.
