Stirling: Lieutenant Beresford killed in the all-day fight of 25 June 1901 when 2 squadrons met Conroy (250 strong) after a forced march from Kenhardt to Upington; the Scouts captured all Conroy's waggons, spare horses, ammunition, and some prisoners. Kitchener despatch 8 July 1901 mentions Lieutenant Beresford for gallantry near Kenhardt 17 May and good leading 25 June.
