Border Horse enrollment/discharge ledger (WO127-style nominal roll scan on angloboerwar.com's Border Horse unit page, 'Nominal roll images' tab, Roll 1). Raised in the Eastern Cape in February 1900 under Colonel Crewe; part of Brabant's Colonial Division (relief of Wepener, Brandwater Basin, later Cape Colony). Stirling, J. (1907), The Colonials in South Africa 1899-1902, as reproduced on the same unit page. Not previously on the ROH; Border Horse did not exist as a unit in this database. The site's separate 57-page WO100/236 QSA medal-roll PDF for this corps is a clasp entitlement roll (resignations/transfers in Remarks), not itself a casualty source. Recorded in the roll as died of wounds on 27.1.01; place read as Kalabast / similar (handwritten, low confidence). Two days before Tabaksberg (29 Jan 1901), where Stirling records 10 Border Horse casualties; the date is close but the roll does not itself name Tabaksberg.
