Border Horse enrollment/discharge ledger (WO127-style nominal roll scan on angloboerwar.com's Border Horse unit page, 'Nominal roll images' tab, Roll 1). Raised in the Eastern Cape in February 1900 under Colonel Crewe; part of Brabant's Colonial Division (relief of Wepener, Brandwater Basin, later Cape Colony). Stirling, J. (1907), The Colonials in South Africa 1899-1902, as reproduced on the same unit page. Not previously on the ROH; Border Horse did not exist as a unit in this database. The site's separate 57-page WO100/236 QSA medal-roll PDF for this corps is a clasp entitlement roll (resignations/transfers in Remarks), not itself a casualty source. Recorded in the roll as "Hammonia KILLED" on 22.5.00. Stirling: "Lieutenant L. G. Longmore was severely wounded near Hammonia towards the end of May, and on same occasion 3 men were killed" -- this roll names all three (O'Shaughnessey 22 May, Barkham 28 May, Nisbet 29 May). Longmore himself appears later in the officers section as a survivor (left 4.11.00), correctly not added as a death.
