Bechuanaland Rifles enrollment/discharge ledger (WO127-style nominal roll scan on angloboerwar.com's Bechuanaland Rifle Volunteers unit page, 'Nominal roll images' tab). This corps was stationed about Mafeking at the outbreak of war (a company 81 strong under Captain Cowan formed part of the garrison) and later served with Methuen in the Western Transvaal. Stirling, J. (1907), The Colonials in South Africa 1899-1902, as reproduced on the same unit page. Not previously on the ROH; Bechuanaland Rifle Volunteers did not exist as a unit in this database. Recorded in the roll as "Killed in action 23.3.02" (Corps No. 265). Stirling notes 5 killed near Klerksdorp on 25 February 1902 (a different date); this isolated March death is recorded as the roll states it, not forced into that cluster. The 5 Klerksdorp dead of 25 Feb 1902 are not named in this (partial) roll.
