Research notes

Mike Sandham OMISSIONS (mailed 18 Sep 2026, credited The South Africa War Graves Project unless otherwise specified): "(Person # 48643) 18 Sep 1969: No record on South Africa War Graves Project. Gnr G.S.J. Labuschagne from the South African Army Died from lung complications after participating in an unauthorised gas exercise held at the training grounds in Doornkop" -- sourced to The War In Angola Information Portal Roll of Honour Member Dedications (warinangola.com/default.aspx?tabid=1596&Parameter=41), and also listed on Roll of Honour - SADF (All Units including Artillery), saartillery.wordpress.com. Cause of death filled in: the stored text was only "Freak accident".
- SAME INCIDENT as Rifleman Collin/Colin Arthur Williams (33873), 4 SAI, who died the SAME DAY of lung complications after the same unauthorised CS gas exercise at Doornkop -- recorded from Graham du Toit's Last Post the day before this mail arrived. Two men on this roll died of that exercise. Neither record previously said so.
