DCM WW1 with Royal Engineers LG Sup 3 September 1918 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of a demolition party for the destruction of bridges. The electric leads having been cut by rifle fire, he crawled out along the bridge under heavy machine gun fire at close range and repaired them. He then demolished the bridge with the enemy only 50 yards away."
