Research notes

Linda-Lea Olivier (great-great-granddaughter of his parents), ROH story 23 Apr 2016, from his death notice: DOB 19 Sep 1871 (added), Calvinia, Northern Cape; parents emigrated from Dordrecht, Holland, 1860; married Martha Jacoba Bezuidenhout (1875-1931); no descendants; died during the Battle of Paardeberg -- consistent with the existing 'Vendusiedrift'/Potchefstroom Commando record.
5 Sep 2026: Regiment/Unit swapped -- "Potchefstroom" (a Commando, the Boer War-era regiment-equivalent) moved to Regiment; "Boer Forces" (the generic force-wide designation) moved to Unit, per John's decision.
