Constable Boikokobetso Retlotlisitswe Sonopo, born 5 October 1997, age 26 at death. Served SAPS for one year from appointment 12 April 2023. Stationed at SAPS Ngqayi, Eastern Cape. On patrol in Mount Fletcher on the evening of 28 June 2024, team ambushed by armed suspects; shot, robbed of service weapon and part of uniform, and held captive; attackers hijacked another vehicle after locking him, a fellow officer, and a tavern owner in the back of a bakkie; transported to hospital but succumbed to injuries. Named at Annual Police Commemoration Day 2025 as youngest of 27 for FY 2024/2025. Name engraved on Wall of Remembrance for the 2024/2025 Roll of Honour (SAPS Commemoration magazine; Annual Report PERSAL 7254501-1).
