Son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. van der Westhuizen, of Claredon Road, Red Hill, Durban. Attended Beachwood Boys High School.
4 Sep 2026: Regiment leftover "South African Army" cleared -- that's the service branch (Army, as distinct from Navy/Air Force), not a specific regiment; the actual unit ("Army Gymnasium") is already captured in Unit. Per John's decision, the 52 records with no better Unit info were left as-is.
Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post 17 Sep 2026: "74258369BG Rifleman Anthony Frederick van der Westhuizen. He was 19", of 6 SAI, same Pinetown accident as Rayson (41774) and Warrington. Rank filled (was empty). CONFLICT flagged, not changed: this record's Unit is "Army Gymnasium"; Graham places him in 6 SAI. Both could be true at different points in his service.
