Notes

Prior to his death he had been put forward for promotion to Acting Sergeant, a position he would have assumed on 01 June. After completing his training in 1971, James joined A Company, where as a keen athlete he proved to be a cheerful and popular member. ref. "Rhodesian African Rifles Roll of Honour" by Adrian Haggett and Gerry van Tonder.
