My brother Pvt. Basil Lawrence Travadi enlisted in 1941 at the age of 14. Though he gave his age as 16. He served with the Witwaters rand Rifles deLarey as a signalman. He was killed in action in Italy in 1945. I was very young at the time, and only know what my mother told me. We received a plaque from the milatary, which I still have, and also a booklet which has long since been lost. The plaque is engraved with his number; I would like to visit his grave, but do not know the grave number, or even where it is located. My mum always told me that he was killed fighting in Monte Casino. She also mentioned Monte Sole.
