Armstrong, Grey Steel, describes the Johannesburg police pickets hunting a gang of “highway robbers” (the Foster gang) whose challenge to Beyers’s and de la Rey’s car led to the ricochet that killed Gen. J.H. de la Rey (Sep 1914). This ROH CauseDeath already records death by the Foster gang in that same police net; Armstrong does not name the individual policemen.
