It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word repeating what the Branch column already says. Secondary Unit is for sub-units -- a company, a squadron, a commando -- and this record's branch of service is unchanged at "Army".

J P Uys was in 1 Para Bn A Coy 79/80. He was killed in the Kaokaveld in 1980 when the Buffel in which he and other members of Valk 2 were travelling back to camp overturned. All troops in the buffel were injured as the driver (a camper- uninjured ) fell asleep behind the wheel. The injured littered the sand road as they were flung out one by one as the vehicle rolled. Unfortunately J P Uys did not survive the ordeal.
