I will always remember the day that "sampie" had us all treed aan and told us that one less would be going home. I never knew him well but yet somehow felt being a sleg engelsman medic that we should have been able to do something more. May his memeory live forever and not been in vain. I'll never forget Piesang. He was an awesome friend to everyone. And a true leader. Always smiling, always joking, always full of advise. He was a rare gem in the rough. Time has marched on an the memory has become slightly faded but I remember it being the 20th, perhaps 24th June 1984 hwen the news came through. We'll never forget you Piesang. Thank you for sharing your short life with us. Warren Williams; Rifleman; Platoon 1; Alpha Compan
