Stories 1
on 19 December 2010
Terblanche was from 6SAI, Foxtrot Company, Platoon 1. Foxtrot company had been deployed to an area around Mupa in Angola during ops Askari. On our return from this operation 17 men had contracted cerabral malaria combined with hepatitis. At the time Foxtrot company was based at Okankolo which was some distance from the hospitals at Oshikati. Repeated signals were send to HQ requesting casavac for these 17 men, after a period of 2 weeks a doctor was sent to attend to the men. Terblanche was a big fellow and he suffered badly with the illness until he unexpectadly passed away. Within hours of his death HQ sent 2 helicopters to casavac the men, should they have done this sooner Terblanche may still be alive today Cpl Borros 32charlie
