Cause of Death
Killed in action, part of a group, from the Recce wing of 32Bn. They were tasked to do a Recce patrol close to Chana 'Enhombe' (about 15 to 20 kms north of the cutline) to determine the extent of SWAPO activity in the area and if possible locate SWAPO Bases in order that 32Bn Companies could launch base attacks. They commenced their Recce on the late afternoon of 22 April 1979. Just after sunrise the following day, 23 April, the group was engaged by a much superior SWAPO force. In the ensuing firefight Tchizonda was wounded by small arms fire but was still able to be mobile. Unfortunately however, on one of the groups withdrawal maneuvers he was hit in the chest, at point blank range, by an RPG7. Due to the intense enemy fire his fellow Recce Members were not able to recover his body
