On the 29 May 1981, while flying low level ration drops over a shona, the pilot clipped some trees while pulling up, lost control and crashed. He was evacuated to 1 Mil in Pretoria where he died on 2 June

He was killed in an aircraft accident on 29 May 1981, near Eenhana, in Atlas AM3C Bosbok #958, one afternoon while flying low level ration drops over a shona, one of the containers struck the rudder and elevators, then i think he possibly clipped some trees while pulling up and lost control and crashed. Christoffel Petrus Taylor, was a passenger in the plane at the time. 2nd LT, 1 Para Bn, 77254266PE, he was evacuated to 1 Mil in Pretoria and died of his injuries on 2 June 1981. Christoffel was born on 20 March 1961 and was the son of Mr FP Taylor, he is buried at Meyerton Cemetery.
