Research notes

DATE DISCREPANCY 25 Aug 2026: pantser.cmvo.org.za's SADF deaths PDF gives this person's Sterf (date of death) as "22 10 76" (DD MM YY) against the same ServiceNo (78230679G8) and name -- differs from this record's DateDeath (1981-02-27). Not overwritten, flagged for reference.
4 Sep 2026: Unit leftover "2 Field Engineer Regiment" (a named regiment, not a sub-unit) moved to Regiment. Corps unchanged.
Mike Sandham's research log ("List 1"), imported 16 Sep 2026, credited to The South Africa War Graves Project unless his entry says otherwise: gives ServiceNo 78230679BG against this record's 78230679G8. The two numbers differ by only 1 digit(s), so one is a transcription slip -- but nothing here says which, and this record is not part of any shared-number run. Not resolved. Flagged, not changed.
25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Army" was CLEARED as a duplicate. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word repeating what the Branch column already says. Secondary Unit is for sub-units -- a company, a squadron, a commando -- and this record's branch of service is unchanged at "Army".
